Overview
Little League All Stars is an opportunity for players to play on another team, meet new friends, represent their community, and experience what is typically an organized and well-run tournament. The Little League All-Star Tournament is an exciting and memorable experience and opportunities exist for many ages. Participating in and of itself is a rewarding experience. There is no additional registration fee for participating on an All Star team. Participants of the following league ages are considered eligible for the specified teams:
Junior Division Team – All ages who played Juniors for NESLL
Major Division Team – All 11- and 12-year-old players who played in the NESLL Major Division
10/11 Team – All 10- and 11-year-old players who played in NESLL Major or National Divisions
9/10 Team – All 9- and 10-year-old players who played in the NESLL Major, National or American Divisions.
Player Selection Process
All players wishing to be considered for All Stars at any level are required to return a completed All Star Commitment Form to the NESLL Player Agent no later than Saturday, May 16, 2009. The Commitment Form can be returned as an e-mail attachment to majoragent@nesll.net or through regular US Mail to NESLL Player Agent, 3543 NE 93rd Street, Seattle, WA 98115.
Please note that no player, Minors or Majors, will automatically make an All Star Team. Players are selected to the All Star team as described in the NESLL All Star Player Selection Process. For a complete description of the process, click here.
Player Notification
Teams may not be announced, players may not be notified, and no practices conducted, until after June 15. Regular season managers and coaches must not discuss selection or notify players, but instead allow the All Star Team Managers to notify the players. Managers should also notify those players not selected to the All Star Teams and encourage them to apply in future seasons. Selection of tournament team players is an issue of considerable importance to players and parents, and all discussions must be handled delicately and with respect.
Anyone interested in managing an All Star Team is required to complete an All Star Manager & Coach Application and return it to your respective Division Coordinator or Coaching Coordinator no later than April 30, 2009. Candidates may be asked to participate in a question/answer session with the president/executive board as part of the evaluation process. Announcement of managers will be made by May 4, 2009.
Managers may then select coaches for consideration by the Board.
All Star managers and coaches must be approved by the NESLL Board of Directors before they are named by the President. The NESLL Board will evaluate candidates based on the Manager Criteria adopted by the Board, the performance of the manager and team during the regular season and league playoffs, and the overall leadership characteristics exhibited by manager and coaching candidates before the final All Star Manager and Coach selection is made.
There will be one manager and two coaches appointed by the Board of Directors to each team. Teams who carry fewer than 13 players may only have 1 manager and 1 coach in the dugout during games.
