Tee Ball Division Summary - Ages 5-7

The Tee ball division is for players who will be 5, 6, or 7 years old as of May 1, 2010.

There are no pitched balls, and players hit off a hitting tee using safety balls. This is a non-competitive league with no player assessment, draft, playoffs, or scores. Players have the following options for team assignment:

    1. Indicate a team preference on your registration.

    2. Have NESLL place you on team

    3. Register as a group of 13 players or less with a designated coach.

Tee ball coaches typically contact their players in mid-March, with practices scheduled to begin in early April. Unless the coach or team requests otherwise, tee ball teams have one weeknight practice/game and one Saturday practice/game. During the preseason your team's practice location, time and field will be the the same each week; the practice can start any time after 4 p.m. at the coach's discretion. The Saturday practice will also be at a fixed location and time. Tee ball game schedules are released around the third week of April. After the season starts there are no more practices. Weeknight games begin at 6 p.m. and the game night and location varies from week to week. Saturday games can be played any time between about 8:30 and 4 p.m., but most are scheduled before lunch. Some teams may be asked to play one Sunday game during the season to accommodate a team of children who cannot play on Saturdays for religious reasons.

Tee ball coaches are required to give every player equal playing time, and players must play every position an equal number of times. In tee ball score is not kept; each player bats every inning, regardless of how many outs are recorded. Games are self-officiated; children who are put out are removed from the bases. Games typically last three innings.

The league provides shirts, hats, bats, balls, bases, helmets and a tee to each team. A parent or guardian is expected to attend each practice or game. Cleats are not required. Children should not wear metal cleats or jewelry. Tee ball and coach-pitch teams often play on fields that don't have dugouts or backstops. NESLL advises parents of tee ball and coach-pitch players to obtain a 5-gallon paint bucket (preferable) or a milk crate for your child to sit on during games, and to haul gear and trash after games. They are available at hardware and paint stores.

Rob McCullough Scholarships are available to players requiring financial assistance. If you will be requesting a scholarship, please complete the registration process.
